Welcome to Dakota Wind Energy, LLC

Dakota Wind Energy, LLC is keeping wind locally-owned in South Dakota. This development is the first utility-scale community-owned wind project in the state. Dakota Wind Energy was founded by Gerry Fisher and a group of other local landowners.

Over the next three to five years, the company will serve as the local ownership platform to develop a series of wind farms. The local community’s financial strength stands behind Dakota Wind Energy, LLC. One of the main objectives is to return a substantial amount of each wind project’s economic benefits to the community.

National Wind is the project manager, developer, and wind consultant for this wind development.

Wind Energy: United States and South Dakota

Wind energy is the fastest growing source of new power generation in the country. Wind offers a clean, limitless, low-cost energy solution for electricity generation. South Dakota ranks fourth in the nation with the greatest wind potential and has the ability to provide enough electricity to meet over half the nation’s demand for power. This project alone has enough wind capacity necessary to generate enough electricity to power over 200,000 homes and will eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by 2,000 tons annually.
