Location

The Dakota Wind Energy projects will be located in the rural northeast portion of South Dakota. Currently, we have three general study areas, with the anticipation of having three separate wind parks located in Day, Marshall, and Roberts counties. These study areas cover approximately 225,000 acres of agricultural land or over 700 square miles.

As we progress further along into the active development stages, these study areas will be precisely defined into project footprints. Each site has excellent winds. A preliminary wind analysis was conducted for each site by National Wind Assessments, the wind resource analysis and met tower construction division of National Wind. This preliminary analysis includes collecting available wind data from met towers in the vicinity of the study area to measure prospective wind speeds and energy production. As the project progresses, met towers will be installed to collect on-site wind data from the specific study areas.
